Wicked Orchard

Somewhere past the last row of trees, the orchard turns wild.

There is a point in every orchard where the mowed rows end and the old trees begin. The fruit there goes unpicked and falls sweet into the grass, the light comes in low and gold through the branches, and the air smells of cinnamon, woodsmoke, and something darker underneath. Wicked Orchard begins there.

The scent opens with ripened plums, black cherries, and a bright edge of orange, then settles into its heart: crisp Macintosh apple straight from the tree, luscious black currant and blackberry, and a whisper of violet and green basil. A thread of saffron and sweet anise lends the enigmatic, slightly arcane quality that gives this candle its name. The base is cedarwood, warm vanilla, tonka bean, and amber, with a trace of dark musk that lingers long after the flame is out.

Hand-poured in small batches with clean-burning soy wax and a cotton wick, Wicked Orchard fills a room without overwhelming it. Light it for a fog-dim October evening, a dinner party with the good glasses out, or the hour after the trick-or-treaters have gone home.

Every candle comes with a story

Scan the code on the label to read Wicked Orchard, an original novella set in a Delaware River orchard on the nights before Halloween. A private investigator, a family cider orchard, a scarecrow with a note pinned to its chest, and a ghost who turns out to be something else entirely. Read it by candlelight. That is what it was written for.

Candle care

Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each lighting. On the first burn, let the melt pool reach the edge of the vessel to prevent tunneling. Burn no longer than four hours at a time, keep away from drafts, and never leave a lit candle unattended.
